Teacher Fashion: Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale Shopping Tips & Tricks

The semi-annual Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale has been announced! It will start in store on Saturday, September 7, and continue through Wednesday, September 11. On Monday, September 9th, the online portion of the sale will begin. Here is how you can get the most out of shopping Lilly’s biggest event of the year!

Shopping In-Store

In-store shopping is great because you can try things on if you need to, and you get to take your items home right away! Stores are opening early at 9am, but Lilly lovers get excited for sales, so you should definitely plan to be there early if you’d like to be one of the first few people in the store.

Once you’re inside, you will find items located in the store by type and by price. The hot items are usually leggings, popovers, and shorts, so head there first if you can. Bags usually go quickly as well. If you know your sizing in different styles, this can really help you maximize your time as fitting room lines can definitely be long.

Remember to have fun! Sure, you may or may not get everything you want, but everyone is there to snag some pretties at a steal, so helping each other is a must. I am always impressed every year at how kind and generous everyone is at the sale. Lilly lovers really know how to do sales right!

Shopping Online

After shopping in-store, you should have a good idea of what you are still looking to score online. The sale opens on Lilly’s website at 8am, so around 7:30 or so, gear up your devices to be ready to go. I usually do my laptop and my phone. At exactly 8am, refresh and Lilly’s website will put you in the virtual queue. Do not refresh or leave the page at this point!! If you do, you will lose your place in line. It can seem like the line is impossibly long, but it goes faster than you might think.

Items in your cart are not guaranteed, so I always get my top three items in my cart and then check out. I don’t risk spending any more time looking. You can always go back in and keep shopping (remember than second device you have lined up will also get you in to shop), so it is worth guaranteeing those items you just have to have. Then, you can go back and see what other deals might be waiting for you. It is always heart racing for those first few minutes when you’re trying to score that one item you really want, but that is part of the fun!

Remember, if the item you love gets sold out online, you can always look for it other places. Signature stores, stores that sell Lilly Pulitzer but aren’t run by Lilly corporate, often match APS pricing as do department stores such as Nordstrom.

What will be in the Sale

Although we never know exactly what is in the sale, anything released early this summer or earlier is fair game if it is still in stock! Lilly also loves to surprise us in the online part of the sale with special items that have never before been released in older prints (often called re-cuts).

Don’t forget to check out my post on five items all teachers should look for at the big sale to help you with planning your purchases if you’re looking for items that would be good for work.
