Maternity essentials I can’t live without

Being pregnant is a beautiful miracle, but it is also weird as heck! There are so many things that I never even thought about until I became pregnant and my body began to change. I am grateful to my girlfriends who gave me lots of warnings and links to things that would help. It seriously made things SO much easier. From new underwear to special seatbelts, here are the essentials I would recommend to any newly pregnant human.

Let me start off by saying that if you are thinking about getting pregnant, start relishing your sleep now. You will need it. That being said, there are things you can get to make pregnant sleep better. I’ve been sleeping with this Leachco Snoogle Original Maternity/Pregnancy Total Body Pillow since early in my pregnancy. I love how you can use it multiple ways and it really feels like you are being cradled. It supports my whole body. As I have gotten bigger, I added this Hiccapop Pregnancy Pillow Wedge, which specifically supports my belly. These two pillows together are the DREAM TEAM.

I was really shocked when my underwear started to get really uncomfortable early on in my pregnancy. Before you start showing, the uterus expands and it can make your clothes uncomfortable, almost as if you are just kind of bloated. My bestie sent me links for some great pairs. I have two different packs of the Intimate Portal Women Under the Bump Maternity Cradle Briefs, which were great both early on and now that I am 25 weeks. They are so soft and they dip low in the front so that they don’t have a seam that bothers you. As I have gotten bigger, I have started loving these Sunnybuy Women’s Maternity High Waist Underwear because they cradle my bump so nicely.

If you find yourself with morning sickness (or in my case, all day sickness during the first trimester), then I highly recommend these OLIPOP Ginger Lemon Sparkling Tonic drinks. They helped SO much when I was feeling bad, and they don’t have the sugar of ginger ale. As your belly grows, you may also start to notice that your skin is really itchy. Mustela Maternity Stretch Marks Cream has really helped in this department. As a bonus, I haven’t noticed any stretch marks yet! *fingers crossed*

When it comes to comfort, something else that can really help is this ZUWIT Bump Belt, which keeps your seat belt under your belly. It is not only much more comfortable this way, but it is also safer because if, God forbid, you are in an accident, the seatbelt will not be against the baby. *** UPDATE: I have recently been informed that these products have not been crash tested and therefore your car insurance *may* not pay a claim if you are in an accident using one. I have tried to research this extensively and there just isn’t a lot of information out there. I did stop using mine as I felt I couldn’t get an accurate read on safety. I am bummed because it was much more comfortable.

As your belly grows, another thing you can use to be more comfortable and give yourself some back support is a Maternity Belly Band for Pregnancy. I recently started needing this at 25 weeks and I am happy to say that it really does help a lot.

Last but certainly not least, dressing your bump can be really fun! I have found that both maternity and stretchy, non-maternity clothes work equally well depending on what I am looking for. Some of my favorites that I have worn so far are listed below. I actually ended up buying a few nursing tops to wear as maternity tops because I figured they would serve a dual purpose when the baby is born! I am all about saving that money!

Being pregnant is an exciting miracle, but it can also be incredibly hard. At six months preggo, I finally feel like I have gotten the hang of a lot. I know that third trimester will bring new challenges, but I feel pretty prepared to take them on. Who knows though? I am sure I will be singing a different tune once I am actually living it!

I hope that the essentials in this post help you on your pregnancy journey!
